Eight Annual Discover Flying Day
Dallas Executive Airport
Another Discover Flying Day was
upon the members of Rainbow Flyers. All of the months of preparation came
to fruition when the student pilots began arriving bright and early at
Dallas Executive Airport. We arrived and all of the lights were off due to
an accident earlier that morning which knocked out both the electricity
and the telephones to the airport. The tower was closed. Could it be
possible?
Fortunately, before any of the students arrived, the lights came back on!

Discover Flying Day is a day when our members
can show off their personal treasures. The ramp at Executive was reserved
for the display of our member's aircraft. Fred's Mooney and Jon's Bonanza.

We always have the best group
of instructors available; we recruit our instructors from the community so
that our students can have both a valuable flying experience as well as
meet some of the best representatives of the GLBT community. Our airplanes
come from FBO's (Fixed Base Operators) in the area. All aircraft must be
airworthy and maintained without exception.
As with all years, the students get to
actually fly the aircraft. Here the instructor, on the right, is giving
the student participants details about the mission and the aircraft
systems.
