A message from Keith Uhls,

As the president of Rainbow Flyers of Austin, I want to welcome any one in the Austin area to join our chapter of Rainbow Flyers of Texas.  I have lived in the Austin area now for five years and have met many other gay and lesbian pilots and people interested in aviation.  Now it is time to organize and get the word out that Aviation is for everyone!!

Our first event will be a booth at Austin ’s Pride Fest.  We hope to use this event to get the word out to Austin ’s Community that we are here and looking for members.  We want to be a diverse group that does not focus merely on our sexuality but on the exciting world of aviation. Our members can be gay, straight or anything in between.   We want to help you find an instructor/flight school that is family friendly and can teach you to fly.  If you are interested in flyins, we plan on doing those as well.  We are fortunate that Texas has some sort of flyin virtually every weekend.  We are also planning on our own flyins as we gain membership and members with airplanes.   As membership grows, I look forward to hearing from our members about how we can make our chapter of the Rainbow Flyers of Texas exciting and valuable to each individual.  There are so many possibilities and I am excited about meeting all of you. 

In addition to our scheduled flying events we plan to meet socially every month by joining GQB (Gorilla Queer Bar) at their monthly straight bar invasion.  (You can sign up at www.Smokingbanana.com)  Currently planned is a  July 8^th hangar party at my hangar at the Lockhart Municipal Airport .  We will have BBQ, information on how to learn to fly and hopefully several planes available to give introductory rides.

 RPFA logo shirts and hats are available for purchase.

The white golf shirts are nice cotton knit with the RFPA logo embroidered on the chest in a variety of sizes for $25 each.

We also have ball caps with the RFPA logo embroidered on the front. The hats are tan stonewashed cotton with a light blue visor and sell for $12.
